Our unit mass on the 17th October was very well attended by all sections and parents.  Father Paul O’Boyle officiated at the Mass. From the Beaver section Patrick walked with the Unit flag. Rachel brought up the offering which was ‘George’ our Beaver mascot and Ciaran read the “Prayer of the Faithful”

In memory of one of the founding scout of the 13th Kildare the Andy Fitzgerald Memorial Shield is presented each year to the Scout of the year.

This year the Andy Fitzgerald Memorial Shield for scout of the year was awarded to Irel O’Farrell who was presented the shield at the recent camp held at Larch Hill by Mary Flicker of Athy Scouts.

On the 2nd October the Beavers visted the fire station in Newbridge. We had a great morning there. Station Master Ger Cauley and Gerry told the Beavers about the importance of having smoke alarms, the numbers to call if there was a fire and showed them how the protective clothing that the fireman wear works. The Beavers all had a drive in the fire engine and then the fire hoses were set up and everyone got a chance to put out a mock fire. It then started to rain so everyone went inside and all the Beavers danced and sang. Our helpers Jane and Aine danced beautifully. Each Beaver will receive a Fire safety badge.  From the Fire station we went to McDonalds to have a Happy meal and then to the shop to buy some goodies. Beaver Oonagh presented Ger with a little gift to say thank you.
