Christmas with Thursdays Beavers

we hope you had a great Christmas and that 2010 is a very happy year for you all.

There was great excitement when the Beavers arrived for their Meeting on the 10th December. There was a surprise Disco and as usual Barry was in top form.

Everyone was out dancing when Santa appeared through the door with 2 large bags of presents . He had plenty of time to chat to each Beaver and gave each of then a beautiful present. He was delighted when teh Beavers all sang Jingle Bells very loudly. Mary Dunne supplied all the spot prizes and Santa,s helper Martine wasmuch appreciated. When they were goinghome they got crackers, whistles, sweets and a toothbrush to keep their teeth nice and clean.

All the Parents got a box of Barry’s “teabags so they could have a golden moment” later on at home. Revival Ltd, Firmount, sponsored the cost of the night.

Thank you toeveryone who was involved inputting this night together and especially Santa himself.

We did a lot of work and all the Scrap Books to bring them up to date and we played all the favourite games before we closed for christmas. We also made some christmas cards. Gemma and Sarah made special halloween and christmas cards for our annual scrap book. Ireally appreciate Gemma Gallagher, Sarah Creagh, Shannon Robinson and Emily O’Brien who are scouts and Venturers, for their help over the past year. They are a great to our beaver colony and we hope they stay with us for a long time. Beaver of the Month fo December was Keelan O’Connell

Many thanks to all the parents for their lovely gifts and especially to the beavers for their homemade cards and letters.

We return on the 14th of January with anew programme and we look forward to the coming year.

Beaver outing to Liffey Valley

Our outing to Liffey Valley was  a huge success. 32 Beavers and 8 Leadres went on public bus {to keep the cost of the outing down} from Clane on the 7th November 2009. First stop was McDonalds where the Beavers enjoyed a happy meal. Then across to the Cenema to see “Mr fox”. We then went to the shops and as Gemma Austin was 6 years old on the day we gave her a persent,a Birthday balloon and a cake. We would have liked to have more time there, but we had to run to catch the bus. Many thanks to Mairead,Sharon, Bernie,Shannon and Emily for their help.

A big Congratulations to Catherine Gallagher who received her Wood  Badge Beads last night in Kilcock. Well done Catherine.

The Wood Badge

Who hath smelt woodsmoke at twilight? Who hath heard the birch-log burning? Who is quick to read the noises of the night? let him follow with the others, for the young men’s feet are turning to the camps of proved desire and knowndelight.
